About Me

Welcome! My name is Shelby and thank you for visiting A Spoonful of Teaching! This blog follows my journey as a newer teacher to the elementary education world!

I'm currently a first-year second grade teacher. However, I've taught fourth grade for two years! My experience as a fourth grade teacher is unique because the school I teach at is departmentalized. Therefore, I had a homeroom of 16 perfect students but I was lucky enough to teach the entire fourth grade math and science. I'm so excited to begin my new journey as a second grade teacher. It's been a fantastic experience so far!

I got engaged to my prince charming in April 2019. We recently married in June 2020! You may hear me talk about Joey a lot because he's my rock and enjoys being involved in what's going on at school! Fun fact, we got engaged at Walt Disney World and are obsessed with all things Disney. That's why this blog also includes a bit of Disney magic.

I graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in May 2018 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. Throughout my four years at SIUe, I was a member of the Competitive Dance team. Dance has always been something I'm passionate about!

I've created this blog to share my experience as a newer teacher and share some tips and tricks I have learned along the way so far! Thank you again for visiting my blog!
